Georgetown Municipal Airport (KGTU), located just North of Austin Texas off the I-35 corridor. The Georgetown Airport class D airspace (controlled) gives students an opportunity early in their training to interact with air traffic control. This interaction enables students to excel & quickly become comfortable with radio communications and operating in controlled airspace.
In addition to the airport being in Central Texas, Georgetown Municipal Airport is surrounded by diverse airspace that facilitates pilots practicing & mastering flight maneuvers without distractions and to operate at a variety of airports (Class B through E) all near KGTU.
With the diverse airspace and airports to choose from, there are 100+ instrument approaches to practice and multiple airports to experience. This real-world experience gives AeroGuard FTC pilots the skills they need and sets them on a path for success.
